UN Open Source Week 2026

pyOpenSci Executive Director Leah Wasser returns to UN Open Source Week as a sponsored maintainer, supported by the Sovereign Tech Agency. This year she will facilitate a session on open source and AI tools — and participate across a full week of programming spanning maintainer sustainability, AI, digital public infrastructure, and open source policy.
Last year, Leah participated in and facilitated sessions at the UN Tech Over Hackathon — part of a growing relationship between pyOpenSci and the broader open source policy and sustainability community.
Week at a Glance
Monday, June 22 — Maintain-a-thon Leah participates as a sponsored maintainer in a hands-on day dedicated to open source sustainability and maintainer support.
Tuesday, June 23 — Open Source × AI Day A full day exploring the intersection of open source and AI, beginning with a breakfast reception hosted by the Sovereign Tech Agency featuring open source leaders and policymakers. Leah facilitates a session on open source and AI tools.
Wednesday, June 24 — Digital Public Infrastructure Day Programming focused on open source as critical digital public infrastructure globally.
Thursday, June 25 — OSPO for Good Sessions centered on Open Source Program Offices and their role in public and social good sectors.
